I wish I had realized that family history is a perishable commodity. It disappears with time, as memories fade, and as loved ones pass on. I wish I had known that the most important aspect of family history is preserving a record of the present for the future.

Nayla and her beloved dog, Pooch (2016)

Hi. my name is Nayla

I am mom to 5 human kids, 3 fur kids, and one very special fur angel named Pooch to whom the title "Messages to Pooch" is dedicated to.  Recently, I gained another angel in heaven with the passing of my beloved Harley.

I am passionate about pets and photography so it was only natural for me to combine my two passions and focus my photography business on pets and their people. I consider myself a documentarian as I use photography to document the life stories and relationships between pets and their people. With my large family, I always found it hard to find a family photographer who would focus on my pets as much as they focused on my children. It bothered me a lot since to me, there was no difference between my children and my pets. Family is family whether they have two legs or four. This is one reason that inspired me to focus my photography business on the pets. Also, while most pet photographers will only photograph your pets, I will include the human family members as much, or as little, as you want. I love to include families in my photography BUT..... with the understanding that the pets are, and always will be, the stars of the show!

My style is very natural and relaxed. I love to include the background with the subjects because it is also part of the story such as the parks you frequent most together, or an activity that you do together regularly.

I approach each photo session with enthusiasm and determination. I am enthusiastic to meet you and your pet because frankly, I just love dogs and their people. I am naturally drawn to dogs and I tend to have a lot in common with my clients who love their pets as much as I do. I am also determined to tell the story of your pet and your relationship with your pet in a way that does justice to the beauty of the unconditional love that you share for each other. Behind every pet and every relationship, there is a great story to be told. This is what drives me. My love for my own "Pooch" is what inspires me. It would be my honor to document your story through my photography.
